Amanda Commander - The Blues Day Tuesday

By Coral Vass and illustrated by Heidi Cooper Smith

‘This is a really relatable story. Lots of kids have felt left out when they come back to school after being away for a while, and the book gives you some great ideas on how to deal with that situation. It’s also got great characters. Amanda is super smart and she isn’t afraid to tell her friends her feelings. She’s brave and stands up for herself. The illustrations are great because they help readers understand the story. They’re also very cute. I love the fun facts about Amanda and her friends that appear through the book too. They’re added in cool handwriting and tell you more about the characters…Kids who like relatable stories and a happy ending will like this book. There’s also lots of other books to read in the Amanda Commander series, like The Pinky Promise and The Purple Invitation.’ - Shaye Wardrop from Kids Book Review

‘This story uses simple language, short chapters, and clever illustrations as part of the narrative to ease young readers into independently reading chapter books. Rooted in the reality of friendships and school, the concept of treating others the way you would like them to treat you is a solid moral running through the book….A great read for all children in lower primary grade aged, readers 7-10 will relate to the situations the girls find themselves in….A story suited to everyone- StoryLinks
